In about an hour or two I created my own solar powered pool heater. You just need some PVC Pipe, a solar mat, some brackets to hold everything in place and some time.

This is the latest product from Desert Solar, the SL-1000 Solar Thermal Water Heating System. Although it potentially has many uses, this particular application is a residential swimming pool. Water is pumped from the pools filtration system to the SL-1000 where the sun’s rays bring the water to near boiling temperatures in the vacuum tubes. The water exits toward its final destination, the swimming pool, where it starts the cycle again. With the SL-1000 installed, pool owners make use of their pool in the winter months that are still full of sunshine without exhausting any natural gas.Thanks from Desert Solar and enjoy.

Instant pool heating system made from stuff around the house. Warms the pool continuously by collecting energy from the sun. Water is piped through garden hoses in the yard and back into the pool. Ours warms the pool by 2 to 4 degrees continuously. Ours is a 660 gallon quickset pool. The pool is 9 feet in diameter. If we had more hose or a more sunny yard, we could heat it even more.
We remove the pump from the pool before playing in the water.
