Home made solar water bag pool heater – updated

Home made 10′ x 3′ solar water bag system for heating pools. It’s a stackable low cost inflatable solar panel system for heating pools without the need for a perminant structure, permits or home owner association approvals. It steals some of the water from a pool jet, heats in the sun and puts back into the pool. You can make one bag in an evening out of a commonly available heavy black plastic sheet and some common PVC parts that connect to garden hoses and low cost garden hose valves.

    Depends on how …
Depends on how thick the plastic is. I had the iron on high and counted to 20 slowly each time. test it out. You may need more or less time. Let it cool some before you pull the paper off. if the paper isn’t waxed enough (aspect of the paper), the paper will stick to the plastic and have to be torn off. My paper roll came from Home Depot – $9

By the middle of summer the water can get too hot. It’s the spring and fall when I want to add heat.
The pool has a liner. It used to be dark at the bottom but over the years, the clorine bleached it. It’d cost thousands to replace.
